Introduction
Like the prelude chapter, the sections in this interlude chapter are intended to be covered in between or alongside sections in previous chapters. In a later edition of the textbook, they will be interwoven as needed.
Notes (to instructors):

Section 6.1 Interlude: A first look at polynomial equations is a full day’s lesson. It can be covered after Section 2.1 A first look at linear equations and ideally before Section 2.3 Using equations. A natural place would be between 2.2 and 2.3.

Section 6.2 Interlude: A first look at right triangles is a half day’s lesson. It is needed before 7.1 Right triangles, and possibly would fit the same day as 7.1. The intent was that 6.2 be covered alongside Section 3.3 Solving power equations (and roots) especially if Section 0.6 Prelude: Powers and roots is covered separately.

Section 6.3 Interlude: Piecewise-linear functions is another half day’s lesson. It naturally fits alongside Section 4.1 Modeling with linear equations, which is otherwise a very short review section.

Section 6.4 Interlude: Point-slope equation of a line is a full day’s lesson. It should be covered after Section 4.4 Slopes It would fit best after 4.5, if that section is covered.

Section 6.5 Interlude: Linear vs. exponential models in point-slope form is a half day’s lesson. It is intended to be an addendum to Section 5.4 Linear vs. exponential models, perhaps replacing 5.4 #4 in the workbook with 6.5 #1.
